The project, the result of an investment of almost four million euros, turns the Balaguer company into a practical example of a circular economy by converting its livestock waste into biomethane, a gas certified as 100% renewable that is already in the Nedgia network, where Torre Santamaría has begun to inject it.
The circular economy has a farm name in Balaguer (Torre Santamaría), where more than two thousand cows produce 24 million liters of milk per year, but also a lot of organic waste, up to 70.000 tons, a problem that has already found a solution.
The operation has been possible thanks to the first long-term biomethane purchase and sale agreement in Spain, signed by Torre Santamaría with Axpo Iberia.
